2011

2011 was another excellent year for Deeside in the management of health and safety issues, despite a Lost Time Accident being recorded when a member of staff sustained minor burns after suffering an electrical short circuit. No lasting injury was caused, and despite no blame being attributed, the incident led to improved methods of electrical isolation prior to work. No major outages were required due to the operating regime of the plant, and only moderate amounts of contract work was required.

Deeside introduced its behavioural safety programme, Fresh Eyes, in 2007 and this was developed further during the year. Many tasks were observed and some useful improvements were made in safety management as a result.

All senior managers have now been trained to NEBOSH Certificate standards.

Deeside has also benefitted from use of a computer based training package for all staff in Health and Safety matters relevant to their work.
