DEESIDE POWER - MENCAP SAFETY CHALLENGE

International Power throughout the UK are supporting the MENCAP SAFETY CHALLENGE. This is an award-winning scheme for improving health and safety performance in organisations.

Deeside Power Station 2010 Mencap Safety Challenge
By carrying out 108 Fresh Eyes observations, delivering 269 toolbox talks and reporting 126 near misses or unsafe acts and conditions, along with 20 safety walks by senior management, Deeside raised £2,655 for Mencap in 2010. International power have committed to the scheme for a further two years, and we at Deeside intend to support the scheme again to increase the amount donated.

The aim is........

To save money by reducing injury rates and other relates health and safety costs

To motivate staff to think about health and safety

To encourage staff to report accidents and near misses

To show management's committment to a safer workplace

To show our social responsibility to the local community

To raise money for Mencap - the UK's leading learning disability charity.

The Challenge was launched at Deeside Power Station in March 2010
